On January 3, local time in Mexico, the first articulated light rail train developed by CRRC for the Electric Transport Service of Mexico City (STE) was put into operation in the capital of Mexico. This is the first time that a LRV "made by CRRC" has served Mexico City, symbolizing a milestone in the electrification and modernization of Mexico City's public transportation.

The train runs on the Tasqueña - Xochimilco light rail line. The line is 13.04 KM long, including 16 stations and 2 terminal stations. After all 9 new trains into operation, they will increase the transportation capacity of the STE LRV by 40% and shorten the passenger waiting time by 4 minutes, significantly improving the travel conditions in the densely populated areas of Mexico City.
