On October 30th, 2023, Beijing time, the comprehensive modernization project of Mexico City Metro Line 1, which was undertaken by CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. (hereinafter abbreviated as CRRC Zhuzhou), was officially open for public operation.
This project marks the first overseas “system +” initiative for CRRC. It stands as a landmark project, symbolizing CRRC's transition from mere product exports to the globalization of an entire system.Encompassing a wide - ranging scope, the project involves investment and financing arrangements. It includes the manufacturing of new vehicles, as well as the comprehensive modernization and upgrades of communication and signaling systems, tracks, and the electromechanical systems of existing vehicles. Additionally, it encompasses the maintenance of the entire system.Notably, in 2022, this project was selected as one of the “Top 10 Classic PPP Projects in the World” by the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP).
